I was excited to be able to offer my expertise to Daryl Austin, writer for the Today Show’s Health and Wellness section, on tips to manage anger effectively. I offered some insights from my book Mindfulness for Anger Management. Anger is part of the brain’s fight-or-flight response so it is literally preparing you to deal with a perceived threat. An effective coping skill is to check in with your anger by using a mindful scale of 0 to 10, which redirects the mind’s focus from an emotional response to a more rational, logical response. Additionally, mindful anger management has the power to heal and improve relationships.
