Patch Media: 5 Ways To Avoid A Mommy Meltdown
Anger, a natural human emotion, can infiltrate parents’ relationships with their children. However, it does not have to result in a full blown “parental tantrum.” Mindfulness provides skillful ways to channel anger and it allows parents to recognize their children’s attachment-driven emotional brain that rejects the higher-order functioning adult brain. In this article, I offer my perspective on anger in the parent-child relationship and tips from my book: Mindfulness for Anger Management: Transformative Skills for Overcoming Anger and Managing Powerful Emotions are provided on how to manage parental tantrums.
