C4 Webinar: Beyond Trauma-Informed Care: The MET(T)A Protocol
While the mental health treatment field has come a long way in acknowledging the role of trauma in presenting disorders by providing trauma sensitive and trauma-informed care, research indicates the need for a more actionable approach, with adaptive resolution of maladaptively stored trauma and adverse life events serving as the main goal of treatment. I presented a webinar titled Beyond Trauma-Informed Care: The MET(T)A Protocol, hosted by C4, to demonstrate this approach, which includes how to shift the treatment paradigm from trauma-informed care to trauma-focused care. This webinar demonstrates how the implementation of EMDR therapy as a complete system of healing and primary psychotherapy, the application of mindfulness as a key component throughout the treatment cycle, and the guiding structures of Buddhist psychology, Pierre Janet’s Three Stages of Trauma Treatment, and Dr. Francine Shapiro all provide the framework to apply trauma-focused programming as the main pathway and goal of treatment.
