Mindfulness as “Module 2.5” of the Palette of EMDR Interventions in Addiction (PEIA): Implications for Trauma-Focused Care
In a post for the Institute for Creative Mindfulness blog, I make the case for a couple of adjustments to The Palette of EMDR Interventions in Addiction (PEIA) (Markus & Hornsveld, 2017): adding a mindfulness-based resourcing module and reconceptualizing other modules. The PEIA was an important catalyst in the continued growth of the MET(T)A Protocol and for trauma-focused care in addiction treatment in general. That article and the adjustments I suggest play a large role in the chapter on EMDR in Addiction treatment settings in my new coauthored (with Jamie Marich) book, Healing Addiction with EMDR Therapy: A Trauma-Focused Guide.
